<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How to Make Healthy Baked Donut</strong></h2>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">For the donut</h4>

<p>Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a donut pan. Set aside.</p>

<p>Whisk the oat flour, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla whey protein powder, and erythritol together in a medium bowl. Set aside.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img width="800" height="500" data-src="https://simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Dry-Ingredients.jpg" alt="Dry-Ingredients-for-baked-donuts" class="wp-image-1658" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Dry-Ingredients.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Dry-Ingredients.jpg?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Dry-Ingredients.jpg?resize=768%2C480&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<p>Whisk the fat-free milk, fat-free Greek yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, egg, and vanilla extract together until fully combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img width="800" height="500" data-src="https://simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Wet-Ingredients.jpg" alt="Wet-Ingredients-for-baked-donuts" class="wp-image-1661" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Wet-Ingredients.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Wet-Ingredients.jpg?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Wet-Ingredients.jpg?resize=768%2C480&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<p>Pour the batter into a large zip-lock bag. Cut a corner off the bottom of the bag and pipe the batter into each donut mold, filling 2/3 to 3/4 of the way full.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img width="800" height="500" data-src="https://simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Piping.jpg" alt="Piping-baked-donut-batter" class="wp-image-1660" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Piping.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Piping.jpg?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Piping.jpg?resize=768%2C480&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img width="800" height="500" data-src="https://simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Filled.jpg" alt="Filled-donut-pan" class="wp-image-1659" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Filled.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Filled.jpg?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Filled.jpg?resize=768%2C480&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<p>Bake for 9-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Allow the donuts to completely cool before glazing.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">For the glaze</h4>

<p>Combine sugar-free vanilla pudding mix and fat-free milk in a small bowl. Whisk until the glaze is smooth. Add fat-free Greek yogurt and food coloring into the mixture and mix until fully combined.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dunk each donut into the glaze. Transfer each donut to a wire rack over a baking sheet to catch the glaze drippings. Sprinkle with sprinkles.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img width="800" height="500" data-src="https://simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Baked1.jpg" alt="Baked-Donut-2" class="wp-image-1662" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Baked1.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Baked1.jpg?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/simplyahomebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Baked1.jpg?resize=768%2C480&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How to Store This Baked Donut</strong></h2>

<p>Keep the donut in an air-tight container and it will last up to 3 &#8211; 4 days in the refrigerator. Or freeze the unglazed donuts in an air-tight container for up to 2 months. When you eat, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and warm up to your liking in the microwave.</p>

<p>Donuts time!!! I always have a space for a delicious donut or two (Don’t we all?) Actually this was my first time making donuts myself. Now I learned how to get the fresh donuts at home, I couldn’t wait to explore the endless possibilities of making these donuts into some cute projects of mine. this time, I made Hello Kitty donuts.</p>

<p>This project was inspired by cafes in Japan that serve kawaii (cute) food. Many cafes in Japan have neatly decorated food, especially desserts. They are so cute that it’s impossible not to take pictures before eating them. I wanted to recreate a similar experience at home. If you try this out, make sure to take a snap&lt;3<br>The donut recipe was adopted from <a href="https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/baked-funfetti-donuts/">Sally’sBakingAddiction</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chocolate Donuts</h2>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Ingredient (Makes about 8 donuts)</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>1 cup (125g) <strong>all-purpose flour</strong> (<a href="https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/how-to-measure-baking-ingredients/">spoon &amp; leveled</a>)</li><li>2 tablespoons, unsweetened cocoa powder</li><li>1 teaspoon <strong>baking powder</strong></li><li>1/4 teaspoon <strong>baking soda</strong></li><li>1/3 cup (65g) <strong>granulated sugar</strong></li><li>1/4 cup (60ml) <strong>milk</strong></li><li>1/4 cup (60g) Greek <strong>yogurt</strong></li><li>1 large <strong>egg</strong></li><li>2 Tablespoons (30g) <strong>unsalted butter</strong>, melted</li><li>1 and 1/2 teaspoons<strong> vanilla extract</strong></li></ul>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Instruction</h4>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Preheat the oven to 350&nbsp;°F (177&nbsp;°C). Spray a donut pan with non-stick spray. Set aside.</li><li>Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, unsweetened cocoa powder, and granulated sugar together in a medium bowl. Set aside.</li><li>Whisk the milk, yogurt, and egg together until smooth. Add the melted butter and vanilla, whisking until fully combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. The batter will be very thick.</li><li>Spoon the batter into the donut cups—I highly recommend using a large zipped-top bag for ease. Cut a corner off the bottom of the bag and pipe the batter into each donut cup, filling 2/3 to 3/4 of the way full.</li><li>Bake for 9-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Allow the donuts to slightly cool before glazing.</li></ol>

<hr class="wp-block-separator is-style-default"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Glaze</h2>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Ingredient</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>1/4 cup (60ml) <strong>milk</strong></li><li>2 cups (240g)<strong> powdered sugar</strong></li><li>1 teaspoon<strong> vanilla extract</strong></li><li>A few drops<strong> gel red food coloring</strong></li></ul>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Instruction</h4>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Combine the glaze ingredients in a medium saucepan over low heat. Whisk until the glaze is smooth.</li><li>Remove from heat and immediately begin dunking the donuts, one by one, into the glaze. I simply dropped each donut into the saucepan and moved it around to coat evenly. Transfer each donut to a wire rack over a baking sheet to catch the glaze drippings.</li></ol>

<p>Donuts taste best eaten the same day, though they may be covered tightly and stored at room temperature for 2 days. You can also freeze the donuts for up to 2 months. Thaw them overnight in the refrigerator and warm them up to your liking in the microwave.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Decorating</h2>

<p>For decorating, I used:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li><a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://simplyahomebody.com/hello-kitty-cookies-simple-recipes/" target="_blank">Hello Kitty Cookies</a></li><li>Sprinkles</li><li><a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://simplyahomebody.com/hello-kitty-cookies-simple-recipes/#WhiteChocolateMousse" target="_blank">White Chocolate Mousse</a></li><li><a href="https://simplyahomebody.com/hello-kitty-cookies-simple-recipes/#Icing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Royal icing</a> transfer</li><li>Mint Leaves</li></ul>

<p>I already had most of the decorations prepared from the previous projects. The only element I specifically created for these donuts were the royal icing transfer. The royal icing recipe can be found <a href="https://simplyahomebody.com/hello-kitty-cookies-simple-recipes/#Icing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>.</p>

<p>I piped Hello Kitty’s bow with red royal icing and white flowers with white and yellow royal icing on parchment paper. I let them dry overnight in the refrigerator and placed them on the donuts.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Summary</h2>

<p>Hello Kitty donuts turned out really cute. If you have small kids, I think they will love eating themed desserts like this. The taste was also good. The donuts were perfectly soft and cakey. The white chocolate mousse also went really well with the donuts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are so many possibilities with decorating donuts. I will definitely try more themed donuts in the future.</p>
